Science
KS4 Science
Exam board and specification |
AQA Trilogy, AQA Entry level, AQA Biology, AQA Chemistry, AQA Physics |
Scheme of assessment |
There are 6 exams: 2 for Biology, 2 for Chemistry and 2 for Chemistry. Each exam lasts 75 minutes if students study combined Trilogy and they last 100 minutes if they study separate sciences. |
Lesson time and grouping |
Students are taught Science for 10 lessons per fortnight. Students are set in science.
|
Homework |
Homework in Science is set three time (1 for each of Biology Chemistry and Physics) per fortnight, lasting 30-40 mins. |
Assessment during the course |
There is a pathway assessment in term 6 of year 9. This will be used to help make decisions about which pathway (trilogy or separate sciences) students will take for KS4. In year 10, there is a paper 1 mock in March. In year 11, there is another paper 1 mock in December and a further mock covering paper 2 in March. |
