Cashless Catering
At Thomas Keble School, students may purchase food items through cashless catering. This means that students do not need to carry cash to school and our canteen does not accept cash. Instead, parents and carers access their own "cashless catering" account through the "School Gateway" to add credit for their children. Students can then use this credit to purchase food and drinks at the school canteen.
We use a biometric authentication system, which reads a partial thumbprint of each child at the till. Students, parents and staff can rest assured the fingerprint images cannot be used by any other source for identification purposes. The system uses an image of the finger to create a mathematical algorithm and then discards the finger image; only the numbers remain and these cannot be reinterpreted back into a finger image
As a parent, you will need to ‘opt in’ slip to enable your child to use the system. If you prefer, students can be given a pin code to use at the tills instead.

1. Why do you need to take my child’s finger image?
By taking an image of your child’s finger we can turn this information into a digital signature.
2. Can finger images be used by any other agency?
No, the software turns your child’s finger image in to a mathematical algorithm. The image of the finger is then discarded. The information stored cannot be used to recreate an image of a child’s fingerprint.
3. What happens when my child leaves the School?
When a student leaves school all data can be deleted very easily.
4. How does it work?
When the child places his/her finger on the scanner, the software matches their finger image with the unique digital signature held in the database
Registering with School Gateway
The Gateway allows you to make payments via debit and credit card for trips, clubs and dinner money. You can also give online consent for activities. All you need are your email address and mobile number that school holds for you.
Download the app if you have a smartphone (Android and iPhone) OR visit www.schoolgateway.com and click on “New User”. You will receive a text message with a PIN number. Use this PIN to log into School Gateway.
