AQA GCSE Drama

Scheme of assessment

Component One: Appraising Drama

80 marks (40% of the total grade).

1:45 written paper.

Component Two: Devising Drama

80 marks (40% of the total grade).

An internally assessed devised piece of Drama (20 marks) and a supplementary written devising log (60 marks).

Component Three: Performing Drama

20 marks (20% of the total grade).

Two externally assessed performances of extracts taken from the same text.

 

Lesson time and grouping

Students have 5 lessons of Drama every fortnight.

Homework

Students will complete one piece of homework per week lasting 45-60 minutes.

Assessment during the course

Students will devise and perform their C2 Devised pieces during Year 10. They will then submit their written devising log at the end of the year. During Year 11, students will rehearse and perform their C3 extracts to a visiting moderator in March/April and then sit a terminal exam during the June exam series.

Additional information (e.g. trips)

Students will have the opportunity to visit the theatre and can participate in the school show. Students also have the potential to become a Drama Leader as part of the department's leadership and responsibility programme.
